North Beer Lodge

Beautiful Lodge With Hot Tub

Close to Cornwall’s wild north coast and the granite tors of Dartmoor and Bodmin, North Beer Lodge is an oasis of rural peace and tranquillity. Tucked away at a vantage point on the owners’ land, this dog-friendly retreat is a perfect place to get close to nature and explore this unique and unspoilt part North Cornwall and beyond.

Introduction

Made from British-grown cedar and built by the experts at British Log Cabins, the passion that their craftsmen have for their trade is visible in the wonderful structures they create.

North Beer Lodge, with its totally private hot tub, is pure luxury in landscape with views over Dartmoor all designed for your peace and tranquillity.

Inside

North Beer Lodge is a unique building. It has been built by British Log Cabins from British cedar, logs truly magnificent in their dimension. The height of the vaulted ceiling is certainly a ‘wow factor’ with its statement lighting and internal logwork. The roof is local slate with a flat sedum roof over the boot room.

There are two bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms and a large, open plan living area complete with wood burner and smart TV. The best, however, is the view from the bifold lounge windows leading onto decking where you can see Dartmoor on a clear day.

The setting is glorious, in a field where sheep and lambs graze and rest under a variety of well-established trees, oaks, copper beach and others.

The grounds of the lodge are largely put to grass and surrounded by a stock proof fence which is designed not to obstruct the view and the feeling of being deep in nature. This does mean that we are able to accept dogs. We have no restriction on size or number of dogs which has proved to be a real draw already to the newly opened property.

EV charging is available along with plenty of room for parking several cars.

Heated throughout with underfloor heating the lodge is cosy at all times of the year.

Passing through the well-equipped kitchen to the utility/boot room, where there are robes and towels for guests, the door opens onto the garden revealing a totally private hot tub where, at night, views of the Cornish dark sky can be seen.

Outside

After a day’s exploring, plug your car or your bike in to charge up, step outside through the boot room with its sedum roof, pick up a towelling robe and a glass of bubbly and head into the wooden hot tub available through the seasons.

The hot tub area is perfectly secluded and is positioned so that you can enjoy the views and the sunsets.

The outdoor area is totally enclosed so no need to worry about your furry companions.

The duvets, pillows and mattress toppers are wool, locally made, eco-friendly, responsibly sourced, 100% sustainable and 100% natural (Devon Duvets https://www.devonduvets.com) Our toiletries are made locally by Suddy Nora https://www.suddynora.co.uk/) and we provide a food caddy with the waste used in our compost. Solar panels provide the majority of the electricity to the lodge. We have a bore hole which provides us with off grid water (all checked and monitored), and a water treatment plant for wastewater and sewerage.

The Owners

We settled in Cornwall a few years ago and fell in love with our location.  Determined to help others to enjoy this special part of the country we commissioned the building of the lodge with the aim of creating a calm oasis which though a peaceful and relaxing setting is central enough to be able to explore all that Cornwall has to offer.

We don’t view ourselves as owners so much as curators with our hope of leaving the buildings and land in a better condition than when we found them.

North Cornwall is a very special place and there are so many ways to enjoy it. Our favourite things are very simple. Enjoying good, fresh food (and there are wonderful producers in this part of the world), making jams and pickles, walking. And best off all, taking it easy, listening to the birds and watching the changing skies.
